Three Haiku – March 21, 2019 (Thaw)

Hyacinth perfume

The purple flowers blooming

Spring intoxicates.

The first tulip shoots

Rise from yesterday’s bare earth

Greeted by birdsong

When will the trees bud

And the robins return home?

Can you feel the thaw?

Three Haiku- February 17, 2019

These grassy sand dunes

Seem a fine vacation home

Visiting owl.

Melancholy woods?

There is no such thing, old friend

You brought it with you.

Lovers carve their names

Into the elephant skin

Of this old beech tree.
